SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Desmond Penigar had 19 points and six rebounds Saturday night to lead the Utah State Aggies to a 60-56 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

The Aggies' Tony Brown made four free throws down the stretch, including a pair with six seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Brown finished with 12 points and seven assists, while teammate Ronnie Ross added 11 points, including making three of four from beyond the 3-point arc.

Utah State (11-2, 3-1 Big West) shot 47 percent and held the Gauchos (9-4, 3-1) to 36 percent shooting.

The Gauchos, who had rallied to tie the game 30-all at halftime, shot only 27 percent in the second half and missed all nine of their 3-point tries.

Penigar scored three baskets in a 2{-minute outburst to put the Aggies ahead by nine points with seven minutes to go.

The Gauchos came back to make it close, not allowing another Utah State field goal the rest of the way. Branduinn Fullove rallied UCSB by scoring seven of his game-high 21 points in the final three minutes.

Adama Ndiaye had 11 points and seven rebounds for UCSB.
