LOGAN, Utah - Brigid Turner scored her twelfth goal of the season as the Aggies tied the Gauchos 3-3 here on Friday. Utah State has tied three games this season, which is the most ties for the team in a season. USU's record is now 6-7-3 overall and 0-4-1 in Big West play. The Gauchos are now 9-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
With her first-half goal off an assist from Chanel Blaquiere, Turner put the Aggies in the lead 1-0 and tied her personal high of 12 goals in a season. She is now one shy of Jamye Gordy's record 13 goals in a season. Turner took six more shots in the game, but was not able to score again.
The Aggies lead was short-lived as the Gaucho's Krystal Sandza scored thirty-three seconds later. UCSB's Jennifer Borcich scored the next goal 25 minutes into the game putting the Gauchos up 2-1. Claire Schend scored with 1:30 left in the first half to tie the game at two. Schend's goal was the second of her career.
UCSB took the lead 22 minutes into the second half off a header from Krystal Sandza as she picked up her second goal of the game. But with less than nine minutes left in the game, Lacey Poulton dribbled past Gaucho Goalie Jamie Considine to score her third goal of the season and tie the game at three. Neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods.
With the tie, USU ended its five game losing streak.
