MONROE, La. (AP) - Bryant Jacobs ran for a 25-yard touchdown in double overtime Saturday night to lead Louisiana-Monroe past Utah State 51-48 night in a game in which Steven Jyles of the Indians passed for four touchdowns and 470 yards.
Jose Fuentes completed 26 of 49 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns for Utah State (2-6).
Jacobs, who led all rushers with 138 yards on 21 carries, scored the winner after the Indians (2-6) forced Utah State to settle for a 32-yard field goal by Dane Kidman on the Aggies second overtime possession.
Louisiana-Monroe led 31-17 after Jyles hit Floyd Smith for a 12-yard TD with 7:47 left in the third quarter. But Utah State responded with three-straight touchdowns.
Fuentes threw a 50-yard touchdown to Kevin Curtis, who finished with six catches for 114 yards. James Samuel then had touchdown runs of 4 and 27 yards early in the fourth quarter - with the second run set up by a Louisiana-Monroe fumble on its own 27-yard line. Samuel led Utah State on the ground with 81 yards on 18 carries.
A 2-yard touchdown run by Keith Thomas capped a 70-yard, seven-play Louisiana-Monroe drive that tied the game at 38 with 11:40 left in regulation.
In the first overtime, Jyles hit Drouzo Quillen with a 35-yard scoring pass, but Utah State forced the second overtime when Fuentes hit Chris Cooley from 23 yards out.
