NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Utah State picked up its first Big West Conference victory of the season Sunday, as the Aggies defeated Cal State Northridge, 1-0. USU is now 7-9-3 overall and 1-6-1 in league play, while Northridge is 2-13-1 on the year and 1-5-1 in conference games.
Utah State freshman Chanel Blaquiere scored her third goal of the season in the game's 84th minute off an assist from Brigid Turner, giving the Aggies their fourth shutout win in 2002.
"Chanel scored a really pretty goal off a great cross from Turner," said Utah State head coach Jen Kennedy Croft. "It's exciting to get the monkey off our back with the win, especially after a very poor showing on Friday at Pacific (a 4-0 loss)."
USU goalkeeper Megan Mills earned her third shutout of the season, with three saves in 90 minutes of play. Turner's assist was her second of the year and gives her 26 points this season, two shy of tying the school record for points in a year.
The Aggies conclude their season Sunday, Nov. 3 at Idaho (2-12-3, 0-7-1) in a 1 p.m. match.
