LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah State's men's tennis concluded its fall season by posting four consolation victories at the 2002 Omni Hotels Regional Tournament last week in Las Vegas, Nev. Two victories came in singles play while the other two came in doubles. The Aggies posted an overall record of 4-17 going 2-12 in singles, 2-5 in doubles.

"We were able to learn a lot from this tournament," assistant coach Andy Madersbacher said. "We figured out what we need to work on heading into the spring season."

Junior Jason Trask and freshman Andy Marsh posted the Aggies' only singles victories in the consolation round. Trask defeated Idaho State's Chris Sadek, 6-3, 6-1. Marsh defeated Eastern Washington's Anthony Venable, 6-2, 6-1. In the next round, both Trask and Marsh were defeated and eliminated from the tournament.

The two doubles wins were highlighted by a main draw win from the tandem of Jonah Nelson and Jordan Butler. The Aggie duo defeated Carl/Olson of Montana State, 8-5. The other doubles victory came in the consolation bracket from the duo of Andy Marsh and Brandon Butler. The Aggie duo defeated Lindley/Williams of Weber State, 8-6.

This regional tournament concludes Utah State's fall season. The spring season, in which the Aggies will compete as a team rather than as individuals, will begin Jan. 17, 2003 against Air Force in Logan.
