Soccer Falls To Long Beach State Friday, 3-1

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer dropped its Big West Conference opener Friday to Long Beach State Friday, 3-1. USU's record moves to 6-4-2 overall and 0-1 in the league, while LBSU improves to 3-6-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Utah State scored first in the match, as Heather Arnell scored her fifth goal of the season with 14 minutes gone in the first half. USU led 1-0 at halftime. LBSU scored three times in the second half, with the 49ers first goal scored as an own goal less than five minutes into the second half. Long Beach State scored again, three minutes later on Diana Sanguinetti's goal, while Sara Gamet scored the final goal in the game.

USU freshman goalie Amy Johnson got her first career start, posting three saves and allowing no goals in 45 minutes of play. USU goalkeeper Megan Mills worked the second half for the Aggies, and allowed three goals.

Long Beach State travels to Idaho for a noon PT game Sunday. The Aggies continue league play Sunday against UC Irvine at noon MT. All USU home matches are played at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field, located on 1400 North at approximately 1100 East.
