LOGAN, Utah - Utah State (6-5-2, 0-2) soccer dropped its second consecutive Big West Conference game Sunday, losing to UC Irvine, 1-0. UC Irvine's record moves to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.

"It's frustrating because we know we can play better than this," USU head coach Jen Kennedy Croft said. "Sometimes you just get unlucky and I think that was the case today."

The Aggies took just five shots in the match, all of which were on goal. UC Irvine shot nine times, with six shots on goal.

The Anteaters scored the game's only goal on Caroline Kabe's penalty kick with three minutes left in the first half. UCI goalkeeper Chelsea McCarthy and USU keeper Megan Mills recorded five saves each.

Sunday's match was just the second time this season USU has been on the losing end of a shutout, as Wyoming defeated the Aggies, 1-0 in double overtime on Sept. 22.

Utah State continues Big West Conference play Friday, Oct. 11 at UC Riverside at 4 p.m. MT, and travels to Cal State Fullerton Sunday for a 2 p.m. MT match.
