LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Mark Brown scored 15 points and Desmond Penigar added 13 points and seven rebounds as Utah State beat Utah 59-54 Tuesday night.

The Aggies (6-2) were 20-for-43 from the floor and snapped a two game losing streak while ending their state rival's three-game winning streak.

Despite a 7-0 run by the Utes with less than 5 minutes left in the game, the Aggies managed to hold off the Utes for their third straight win in the series.

Aggie reserves contributed 21 points and Utah State held Utah reserves to just six points.

Nick Jacobson was 8-for-10 from the floor and scored 21 to lead Utah. Britton Johnsen added 12 points and Tim Frost scored nine and had seven rebounds for the Utes, who opened the game with an 11-2 run but couldn't hang on.

The Aggies went a span of seven minutes without a field goal, but Ronnie Ross sparked the offense with back-to-back 3-pointers that started a run of 13 unanswered points.

A field goal by Desmond Penigar tied the game 14, and the Aggies never trailed again. Utah State led 31-22 at halftime.

Jacobson was the only Utah player to score in the last 13 minutes in the first half and his 3-pointer was the only points Utah would tally in the last five minutes.

The win was No. 100 at Utah State for coach Stew Morrill. He becomes the quickest coach to reach 100 wins in the history of the school, reaching that mark in just 135 games.
