LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Desmond Penigar, who scored a game-high 29 points, banked in a shot with 5.6 seconds left to give Utah State a 66-64 win Saturday.
After Penigar's goal, Weber State's Jermaine Boyette headed down court, ran into two Utah State defenders and passed to Brad Barton. As Barton attempted to maneuver closer to the hoop with less than two seconds left, the shot clock inadvertently went off.
Barton put up an errant 22-footer as the final horn sounded. It appeared as though after Penigar's score, the official timekeeper failed to turn off the shot clock.
Utah State (7-2) led 45-38 with 12 minutes left when Weber State (7-3) went on a 19-6 run to take a 57-51 advantage. Utah State then came back to tie the score at 59 with about four-and-a-half minutes remaining.
Jermaine Boyette led Weber with 16 points. John Hamilton added 15.
Ohio State transfer Slobodan Ocokoljic made his Wildcat debut, scoring 8 points.
He was suspended by the NCAA for the first eight games of the season for a secondary violation. Ocokoljic then had to return to Serbia to fill out papers for a waiver from military duty.
