SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah State's softball team's four-game winning streak came to a stop in a 5-0 loss at Utah on Tuesday. The Utes improved to 23-31, while Utah State fell to 8-38.
Utah State was limited to just three hits as only Stephanie Vasarhely, Breane Smith and Casey Smith could manage hits against the Utes. The Aggies left seven runners on base in the game.
Defensively, the Aggies did not commit an error while Lindsay Janssen pitched four and one-third innings, allowing seven hits and all five runs. Kristin Hommel came on in relief and pitched one and two-thirds of scoreless ball. Janssen and Hommel did not issue a walk in the contest.
The Aggies, who have won four straight Big West Conference games, will return to league play at UC Santa Barbara with a single game on Friday and a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday.
USU is 0-2 against Utah this season with one more meeting scheduled at Salt Lake City on May 7 at 3 p.m.
