Box Score

POCATELLO, Idaho - Brigid Turner scored Utah State's only goal as the Aggies dropped their season opener at Idaho State, 3-1. Turner's score came on a penalty kick with 70 minutes gone in the game.

"We played much better in the second half than in the first," said USU head coach Jen Kennedy Croft. "The score isn't indicative of the game; it wasn't as bad as it seems. But we have a good idea of where we are and what we have to work on."

Idaho State led, 1-0 at the half, after scoring on an own goal with just under 13 minutes left in the first half. In the second half, the Aggies tied the game and then held ISU to just two shots in the half, but the Bengals were able to score on each. USU took 11 shots in the game, while ISU took 10. USU sophomore goalkeeper Megan Mills posted four saves, all in the first half.

Utah State and ISU have met four times, and each has won two games on its home field. Utah State is now 1-6 in season-openers, with its lone win coming against Idaho State in Logan in 1998.

The Aggies host their 2002 home opener and the inaugural game on the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field on Monday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. The field is located on 1400 North, at approximately 1100 East in Logan.
