IOWA CITY, Iowa - Brad Banks ran for one touchdown and passed for another, and Jermelle Lewis had a 75-yard touchdown run as Iowa defeated Utah State 48-7 Saturday.
Banks threw a 12-yard TD pass to C.J. Jones to start the scoring for Iowa (3-1). Banks scored again in the second quarter on a 1-yard run, set up by his 43-yard pass to Clinton Solomon, who made a one-handed catch between two defenders.
Jose Fuentes was 21-of-36 for 214 yards and no interceptions for Utah State (1-3), which finished with 21 yards rushing on 20 carries. The Aggies' only touchdown came on a 25-yard run by Roger Robinson in the second quarter.
Iowa's Nate Kaeding kicked two field goals, including a career-long 51-yarder. He also tied the school record with his 11th consecutive field goal.
Banks finished 15-of-29 for 185 yards, with no interceptions. He ran seven times for 65 yards. The Hawkeyes had 300 yards rushing and had 518 total yards.
Lewis ran for 109 yards, marking the seventh consecutive game Iowa has had a runner with more than 100 yards.
Aaron Greving ran for 48 yards. Marcus Schnoor had 44 after Iowa replaced its starters in the fourth quarter.
The Hawkeyes' defense scored twice in the third quarter. Sean Considine blocked a Utah State punt, which was covered in the end zone by Mike Follett. Then Jared Clauss recovered a bad lateral from Jeff Crosbie in the end zone.
