OGDEN, Utah - Jason Trask led the Aggies by winning two straight matches as Utah State's men's tennis team opened its fall season at the Weber State Open Friday, Sept. 27 in Ogden. The Open features players from Weber State, Idaho State and a few unattached players.
Trask, a junior from St. George, Utah, opened fall play by winning his first match 6-2, 6-2. Trask's second match went down to the wire as he prevailed in the third set 6-4, 3-6, 12-10. In his third match of the night Trask fell to Malcom Swan of Idaho State 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Andy Marsh and junior Jonah Nelson both saw victories in the consolation bracket and will face each other on Saturday.
"We had some really nice wins here at the Weber Open," head coach Christian Wright said. "We are young but are getting some good experience that will help our team be successful."
The Aggies continue their play at Weber State Saturday, Sept. 28 with the opening of doubles play. Aggies featured in doubles play will be the tandems of Jonah Nelson and Jordan Butler along with Jacob Jensen and Ryan Bair.
Up next for the Aggies is the BYU Invitational Oct. 2-5 in Provo, Utah.
