BOISE, Idaho (AP) - B.J. Rhode threw for 376 yards and five touchdowns as Boise State beat Utah State 63-38 Saturday night.

Rhode made only the third start of his career for the Broncos (3-1). He filled in for Ryan Dinwiddie, who broke his ankle in the Broncos' second game of the season.

Utah State (1-4) got to 42-31 early in the fourth quarter when Jamar Glasper recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.

The Broncos put the game out of reach on Rhode's fifth TD pass, a 63-yarder to Wingfield. Mikell scored from 40 yards out to increase the lead to 56-31.

Rhode threw touchdown passes of 57 and 67 yards to Jay Swillie, and David Mikell ran for two scores.

The two teams combined for 974 yards in total offense.

Rhode threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Brock Forsey for the game's first score. Defensive back Julius Brown returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown to give the Broncos a 21-3 lead in the first quarter.

Rhode threw a 13-yarder to Rocky Atkinson as the Broncos took a 42-24 halftime lead. By then, Rhode had completed 13 of 15 passes for 281 yards and four TDs.

Aggie quarterback Jose Fuentes was 21-of-34 passes for 297 yards and two touchdowns. Fuentes became Utah State's career total-offense leader on his 37-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Curtis in the first quarter. He has 6,782 yards, surpassing Tony Adams' 6,587 yards.

Curtis had five receptions for 117 yards, while Billy Wingfield caught six passes for 128 yards for Boise State.
