LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer dropped its first Big West Conference match of the season Friday, as the Aggies fell to Long Beach State, 3-0. The loss snaps the Aggies' five-game winning streak dating back to Sept. 23.
"We had a tough time getting going and they were able to figure us out," said head coach Heather Cairns. "We are going to have to regroup and come out hard on Sunday."
Long Beach defender Lauren Doffing, opened the scoring for the 49ers in the 38th minute as she sent home the rebounded shot attempt of teammate Allison Wiegand.
The 49ers didn't score again until they put the match away for good with two goals less than a minute apart. Jen Robin scored the first goal at 59:06, followed by Wiegand's goal at 60:05.
The 49er back line held USU to just nine shots on the match, and shotless for the first 19 minutes of play.
