Volleyball Drops Three-Game Match At Idaho

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped Saturday night against the University of Idaho, losing to the Vandals in three games (19-30, 24-30, 23-30) to fall to 13-8 on the season and 5-5 in the Big West Conference. Idaho improved to 12-8 overall and 4-6 in the league with the win.

Utah State started slow, hitting just .083 in game one, while Idaho hit .288. USU's best game of the match was the second in which they hit just .105 as compared to a .333 hitting percentage for the Vandals. In the third and final game, USU hit just .020, while UI hit .119.

Senior middle blocker Erin Cartwright-Davis (Hyrum, Utah) led Utah State with 11 kills and 15 digs, while freshman opposite side hitter Mari Ruddick (Canyon Country, Calif.) hit a team-high .318 with 10 kills.

As a team, Utah State hit a season-low .068 (40-30-147), while Idaho hit .246 (51-19-130). The Vandals also recorded 15 more digs (66-51) and four more team blocks (12-8) in the match.

Utah State will return to action next weekend when they travel to UC Irvine on Fri., Oct. 31 and to Long Beach State on Sat., Nov. 1.
