Soccer Falls 2-0 At No. 22 Cal Poly

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Utah State goalkeeper Megan Mills recorded six saves but it wasn't enough as No. 22 Cal Poly (15-1-2, 6-0-2) downed the Aggies (10-6-2, 4-2-2) 2-0 Friday. With the win Cal Poly clinches the Big West regular season title. Utah State remains in the hunt for a Big West Tournament berth as it fell to third place behind Cal Poly and UC Irvine. The top four teams get a bid to the tournament which begins on Nov. 7 in Fullerton, Calif.

The Mustangs got on the board early in the match as senior Erica Claussen scored her third goal of the season in the 18th minute. Claussen took a shot from 12-yards out from the left side that found the right corner of the goal.

Cal Poly would score the only other goal of the match in the 42nd minute of the match. Cal Poly's Erin Martin took a pass from Kelsey Carroll and, like Claussen, kicked the ball from the left side to the right corner of the net about 10-yards out.

USU recorded four shots in the match, three of which were on goal. Tiffany Jones, Nicole Feuz and Charlsie Harris each had shots on goal for USU.

USU looks to clinch a spot in the Big West Tournament as it faces UC Santa Barbara Sunday at 1 p.m.
