Volleyball Defeats Cal State Fullerton In Three Games

FULLERTON, Calif. - Senior middle blocker Erin Cartwright-Davis (Hyrum, Utah) recorded a match-high 17 kills and hit .343 to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a three-game win (30-25, 30-18, 30-22) against Cal State Fullerton here Saturday night. With the win, USU improves to 16-11 on the season and 8-8 in the Big West Conference, while the Titans fall to 8-20 overall and 2-14 in league play with the loss.

Utah State opened game one with a five-point win despite hitting just .154 as they held Cal State Fullerton to a .104 hitting percentage. The Aggies dominated game two, hitting .300 as a team, while CSF hit a negative .068 en route to the 12-point win. In the third and final game, USU hit just .167, but Cal State Fullerton hit a negative .021 to give Utah State the sweep.

Along with Cartwright-Davis' 17 kills and six blocks, freshman outside hitter Beth Hodge (Broken Arrow, Okla.) added 10 kills, while junior setter Andrea Delsigne (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and senior libero Taubi Neves (Otto, Wyo.) each posted 13 digs.

As a team, Utah State hit .201 and held Cal State Fullerton to a .007 hitting percentage. USU also notched 16 more kills (48-32), 17 more digs (66-49) and 10 less hitting errors (21-31) in the match.

Utah State will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 20 as they host Pacific in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7 p.m.
