OGDEN, Utah - Terrin Johnston scored a season-high 12 points and Ali Aird recorded 10, but it wasn't enough as the Aggies fell to in-state foe Weber State 71-50 Tuesday night. The loss drops USU to 0-8 on the season, while WSU improves to 3-7.
With her 10 points, Aird has scored in double digits in seven-straight games for the Aggies. Johnston scored in double figures for the first time this season as she went 4-11 from the field including 1-2 from the three-point line.
Aird put USU on the board first and the Aggies would hold the lead for the next 12:02. Weber would then close the half on a 17-4 run that put them up at the half 35-23.
USU wouldn't get any closer than 10 in the second half as the Wildcats shot 40.9 percent in the second half to the Aggies' 30.8 percent.
The Wildcats had four players in double digits led by Angela Sampson's and Becky O'Neal's 14 points each. Lindsey Hille and Sheila Robertson added 13 a piece.
USU was outrebounded for the third-straight game as Weber pulled down 36 rebounds to the Aggies' 31. USU also had their second-worst shooting game of the year as they shot 31.5 percent from the field.
Weber shot 45.7 percent for the game and 81.3 percent form the free throw line. The Wildcats also committed 10 fewer fouls than the Aggies as they recorded 27 to the Aggies' 17.
USU opens Big West Conference play Saturday at Idaho. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
