PROVO, Utah - Utah State softball dropped two games to BYU, despite another solid hitting performance from freshman Quela Henderson here Friday. The Cougars beat the Aggies in the first game 6-1 and 10-1 in the second.
Henderson was a combined 3-5 on the day, with a hit in each game, extending her hitting streak to eight games. Marcie Neff and Amanda Carlson picked up doubles in the second game.
The first inning was a trouble spot for the Aggies in both games, as Utah State gave up three and five runs in the first inning of each game, respectively.
"Any time you put yourself in that kind of hole, you will have a hard time digging your way out," said head coach Debbie Bilbao.
BYU's Brooke Cadiente led the Cougars at the plate, going 5-5 on the day with a home run, a double, two triples and nine RBI.
The Aggies continue their three-game series at BYU Saturday at 1 p.m.
