SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Utah State softball's Sunday game against Sacramento State at the Capital Classic was rained out. After the cancellation, the field dried out enough for the Aggies to play a non-tournament game against third ranked Washington (31-2-1) Sunday. The Huskies beat Utah State 6-0 as the Aggies fell to 5-17 on the season.

"We stayed pretty composed for the most part and kept [Washington] at bay," said USU head coach Debbie Bilbao. "I would have liked to see us make more offensive adjustments and apply some offensive pressure."

Quela Henderson and Haven Vance notched USU's only hits of the game. Henderson has a five game hitting streak and has made a hit in 14 of the last 15 games.

Utah State finished the 11-team Capital Classic in fifth place with 3-2 record. The Aggies finished behind third ranked Washington, defending national champion California, Iowa and Illinois.

Senior Aimee Johnson was named to the all-tournament team. Johnson went 4-14 as the Aggies won three straight to close out the tournament. "[Johnson] was very consistent this weekend," said Bilbao. "She made a lot of great plays and batted fairly well, too."

The Aggies open their home season Wednesday with a doubleheader against Southern Utah. The first game starts at 2 p.m.
