FULLERTON, Calif. - Utah State softball dropped the third game of the weekend series against eighth-ranked Cal State Fullerton 5-1 here Sunday. The Aggies fell to 5-20 overall and 0-3 in the Big West while the Titans improved to 22-12 and 3-0 in Big West play.
USU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Candice Hatch singled to centerfield and drove in Stephanie Vasarhely for the Aggies' only run. USU held the lead until the fourth inning when CSF scored five runs.
Candice Hatch led the Aggies at the plate, going 1-2 with an RBI. Carli Baumgartner took the loss, giving up all five Titan runs. Pitcher Leslie Higley allowed just four hits and no runs in three innings of work.
Utah State opens its home season Tuesday at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader against the BYU Cougars.
