LOGAN, Utah - Jason Trask recorded a win in both singles and doubles to lead Utah State to a 5-2 win against Weber State Wednesday. With the win Utah State is now 1-1 against Weber this year. The Aggies have a chance to win the series as the two teams met again April 9, in Ogden Utah.
In singles action, Trask, playing in the No. 1 singles spot for just the second time this year, defeated Weber State's Don Williams, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 2 spot, Jordan Butler fell to John Engelbrecht, 6-4, 7-5. Brandon Butler, playing in the No. 3 spot, recorded Utah State's next win as he defeated Kenny Lindley, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Andrew Marsh, playing in the No. 4 spot for the first time this year, defeated Andrew Corlett, 6-3, 6-3. At the No. 5 spot, Jacob Jensen lost a close match with Zach Rideout, 6-7 (8-6), 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). Ryan Bair closed things out for the Aggies as he defeated Martin Sitek, 4-6, 6-1, (10-4).
In doubles action, Trask and B. Butler, playing in the No. 2 spot, helped the Aggies get an early edge as they defeated the tandem of Williams/Lindley, 8-6. In the No. 3 spot, Bair and Jensen sealed the doubles point as they defeated the duo of Rideout/Sitek, 8-6. The Aggies were unable to sweep doubles as the No. 1 tandem of J. Butler and Marsh fell to Williams/Lindley, 8-6.
The Aggies' next match is against St. Mary's at a neutral site in Stockton, Calif., Saturday at 4 p.m.
