LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Despite a first-inning home run from Marcie Neff, Utah State softball (2-10) was unable to win in two games against the Nevada Wolf Pack. Nevada won the first game 4-1 and the second 6-0. Nevada is now 11-9 this season.
In the first game, Marcie Neff notched her first home run of the season in the first at-bat, scoring the Aggies only run of the game. In the third inning, Utah State gave up two runs to the Wolf Pack off a triple by Stacy Mueller and a double by Cindy Elkins. The Aggies held the score at 2-1 until the sixth inning when Nevada scored two more runs, winning 4-1.
The second game was a defensive struggle, with no runs scored, until the bottom of the fifth when the Wolf Pack scored four runs off doubles from Jamie Waldron and Lindsey Hall. In the sixth, the Aggies gave up two more runs as the Wolf Pack beat the Aggies 6-0.
Freshman Quela Henderson was the top hitter for the Aggies, going 3-6 on the day. Neff was 1-4 in the first game with a home run.
The Aggies play their final game of the tournament Sunday at 11:00 a.m. The opponent for that game is still to be determined.
