LOGAN, Utah - Jordan Butler and Jonah Nelson helped Utah State capture the doubles point, but it was not enough as Utah State's men's tennis team fell to 6-11 on the season after losing a home match to Northern Arizona, 5-2, Friday afternoon.
"We played extremely well in doubles today," head coach Christian Wright said. "We had the momentum going into singles and had a tough time keeping it with us."
In singles play, Jason Trask recorded the Aggies lone win as he defeated NAU's Daniel Lundstrom, 6-2, 6-2. Brandon Butler played the next closest match as he went three sets before falling to Jeremy Coll, 7-6, 3-6, 2-6.
In doubles action, the Aggies played well as they won all three matches. J. Butler and Nelson, playing in the number one spot, helped the Aggies get an early edge as they defeated the tandem of Lundstrom/Schram, 9-8. The Aggies clinched the doubles point as B. Butler and Trask defeated Jeppsson/Jegers, 8-6.
The Aggies' next match is at home against Portland State on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
