LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis player Jason Trask was named Utah State's Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday. The honor is selected by a local media panel.
Trask, a junior from St. George, Utah, extended his singles match winning streak to five as he went 3-0 in his singles matches last week. He was also a perfect 3-0 paired with Brandon Butler in doubles matches. In singles, Trask defeated Weber State's Jonathan Engelbrecht, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3; Northern Arizona's Daniel Lundstrom, 6-2, 6-2; and Portland State's Chuck Haselwood, 7-6, 6-2.
During Trask's combined eight match winning streak, he has led the team to a 3-2 record with key wins against Montana, Weber State and Portland State.
The Aggies' next match is at home agianst Idaho State on Wednesday, April 16, at 1 p.m.

Women's Tennis -- Caroline Pollock... Pollock was 2-0 at number one singles and 2-0 at number one doubles on the week. She defeated Weber State's Maria Bublik, 6-3, 6-0, and Portland State's Katie Owens, 6-1, 6-2. Pollock is now 8-8 at number one singles and 8-8 at number one doubles.
Softball -- Haven Vance... Vance went 5-9 at the plate this weekend against Cal State Northridge. In the second game, Vance was 4-5 with a home run, three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base, leading the Aggies to an 8-2 extra-innings win.
Gymnastics -- Meagan Nelson... Nelson finished her freshman year claiming ninth place in the all-around at the NCAA Regional Championship in Salt Lake City Saturday. Nelson scored 38.875 in the all-around, leading USU's three individual competitors, and was .45 off qualifying for Nationals. Nelson scored 9.775 on floor, 9.750 on vault and beam and 9.600 on bars.
Men's Track -- Neil Warr... Warr set a USU javelin record for the second straight meet and won the title Saturday as he threw a stadium record 236-02 at the Weber State Wildcat Invitational. Warr is ranked first in the region and moved into third nationally with his throw.
Women's Track -- Debra Barker... Barker qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the pole vault at the Wildcat Invitational with a height of 12-00.00
