SALT LAKE CITY - Quela Henderson hit two doubles and scored two runs, but Utah State softball lost to the University of Utah 6-2 here Wednesday. The Aggies are 5-23 and Utah is 12-17 on the season. Henderson led the team from the plate going 2-3 with a walk. Her two doubles give her a team-high five on the season.

USU scored in the first inning as Amanda Carlson singled to left field and Henderson scored her first run. Stephanie Vasarhely singled in the top of the fourth, scoring Henderson, as the Aggies took a 2-0 lead.

Casey Smith committed her first error of the season in the bottom of the fourth, sparking a three-run scoring spree by the Utes. Again in the fifth inning, Utah scored three runs to take a 6-2 lead.

The Aggies had eight hits in the game, but failed to generate scoring by leaving nine runners on base, said head coach Debbie Bilbao. "We did a great job of loading the bases," Bilbao said. "I would like to see us do a better job of scoring, though."

Freshman pitcher Leslie Higley pitched six innings, striking out a personal-high six batters. Kelly Leos hit her second double of the season and was 1-3 with a walk. Vasarhely and Carlson were both 2-4 and each had an RBI.

The Aggies travel to Cal State Northridge for an three-game series Saturday and Sunday.
