Men's Tennis Defeats Weber State 4-3

LOGAN, Utah - Jason Trask recorded a win in both singles and doubles as Utah State's men's tennis team defeated Weber State 4-3 Wednesday. With the win Utah State clinched the season series between the two teams as they were 2-1 against the Wildcats this year. The win also improved their overall record to 6-10 as Weber State fell to 2-7.

In singles action, the Aggies had to fight for every point as the top four singles matches went three sets. The deciding match of the day came down to No. 2 singles where Trask defeated WSU's Jonahthan Engelbrecht, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3. Other Aggies to win in singles play were Jonah Nelson and Jordan Butler. Nelson, playing in the No. 3 spot, defeated Kenny Lindley, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. J. Butler defeated Zach Rideout in straight sets at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, Trask and B. Butler, playing in the No. 2 spot, helped the Aggies get an early edge as they defeated the tandem of Engelbrecht/Corlett, 8-6. In the No. 3 spot, Ryan Bair and Hannes Schenk sealed the doubles point as they defeated the duo of Rideout/Sitek, 8-2. The Aggies were unable to sweep doubles as the No. 1 tandem of J. Butler and Nelson fell to Williams/Lindley, 8-2.

The Aggies' next match is at home against Northern Arizona on Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m.
