Box Score Junior Nicole Feuz notched her second straight game-winning goal with her third goal of the season as Utah State defeated Northern Arizona at Boise State Sunday, 1-0. With the win the Aggies improve to 6-4, while the Lumberjacks fall to 1-5-3.
USU was the lone team to go undefeated in the four team tournament this weekend. They defeated Northern Colorado Friday, 2-0.
"We played a real barn burner today," said head coach Heather Cairns. "Megan Mills and the defense played exceptionally well and gave us a chance to win."
Feuz, a native of Boise, Idaho, broke a scoreless grid-lock with just four minutes remaining in the match as she found the back of the net off a cross from Claire Schend. The assists was Schend's second of the season.
"Our midfield also needs to get some recognition for this win," said Cairns. "Charlsie Harris, Shaylee Wilson and Charity Weston all played very well and helped us pull this one out at the end."
With the shutout, goalkeeper Megan Mills added to the shutout records she established on Friday. She now has seven career shutouts as the USU all-time career leader in shutouts. She also added to her single season shutout record; she has five on the season. USU has either shutout its opponent or been shutout in all but one game this season. The Aggies defeated Weber State 2-1 in the only non-shutout game.
USU returns home to open Big West Conference play against Cal State Northridge on Friday Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.
