LOGAN, Utah - Tamara Quinn's layup with three seconds left lifted Cal State Fullerton to a 69-68 women's basketball victory at Utah State here on Thursday night.
Brittany Tressler drove in for a layup to put Utah State ahead 68-67 with :09 left, but Quinn drove the length of the floor for the game winner. The visiting Titans improved to 3-12 overall and 3-3 in the Big West with the victory, while Utah State fell to 2-12 and 2-4.
CS Fullerton was led by 17 points from Keathley and 12 points on four-of-five shooting from three-point range by Jaime Wagner. Ali Aird recorded her third consecutive double-double for USU with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Christina Zdenek added 12 points for the Aggies as well.
Cal State Fullerton led 33-26 at halftime and built its margin to 11 points at 41-30 with 17:06. CS Fullerton led by 13 at 56-43 with 10:09 left before USU went on a 23-8 run to get its first lead (66-64) of the second half with :50 left. That set up the final baskets in the last :31.
"It was defense that hurt us from the beginning to the very last possession," said USU head coach Raegan Pebley. "We were just flat on defense."
USU shot 47.3 percent and out-rebounded the Titans 33-30. CS Fullerton hit 10 of 17 three-pointers in the game for 58.8 percent.
Utah State will host UC Riverside on Saturday at 3 p.m. An alumni game will take place at the Spectrum at 12:15.
