PROVO, Utah - Utah State's men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season Friday as it fell to BYU, 7-0 in Provo. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 1-1 on the season while BYU open's its season at 1-0.
USU fell behind early by dropping all three doubles matches. The Aggies' closest matches in doubles would come at the number one and three spots. Hungsoon Park and Hannes Schenk dropped the number one doubles match, 8-4, to Erik Nyman and Nima Roshan. Ryan Bair and Jason Trask then fell 8-4 in their number three doubles match with the Cougar duo of Bradshaw and Kaufnold.
In singles, USU's Jason Trask had the strongest performance at the number five position. For the opening set with the Cougars' Tim Bradshaw, it looked like Trask might go 2-0 on the season as he took the first set, 6-3. Bradshaw then came back strong in the second set and won 7-5. In the super-set, Trask was unable to hold off Bradshaw as he won the set 10-6, and subsequently helped BYU record the sweep.
The Aggies are back in action tomorrow as they face the University of Denver in Provo. The match begins at 5 p.m.
