Volleyball Drops Five-Game Match At Cal State Fullerton

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost a five-game match at Cal State Fullerton Friday night by final scores of 23-30, 25-30, 30-23, 30-24, and 10-15 to fall to 5-11 on the season and 1-7 in the Big West Conference. The Titans improved to 10-7 overall and 3-5 in the league with the win.

Utah State had won nine straight matches against Cal State Fullerton coming into tonight's match.

Carolyn Forbush led Utah State with 19 kills and nine digs, while Amanda Orgill added 17 kills and hit a team-high .371 in the match. Zuzana Cernianska also had 17 kills, while Kelsi Thoman had a team-high 20 digs.

Cal State Fullerton was led by Sarah Morrison who had 15 kills.

As a team, Utah State hit .219 in the match and held Cal State Fullerton to a .196 hitting percentage. USU recorded seven more kills (70-63) and nine more digs (65-56) while committing just three more hitting errors (31-28). The Titans, however, notched five more service aces (11-6) and three more team blocks (11-8) to record the win.

Utah State will return to action on Sat., Oct. 16 against UC Riverside before returning to home to face Idaho on Thur., Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
