LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost a three-game match (16-30, 21-30, 28-30) to Long Beach State here Saturday night to fall to 7-13 on the season and 3-9 in the Big West Conference. The 49ers improved to 17-4 overall and 9-4 in league play with the win.
Utah State has now lost 28 straight matches to Long Beach State dating back to the 1982 season and is just 6-30 all-time against the 49ers.
Amanda Orgill led Utah State with 11 kills, while Ingrid Roth added nine kills and four blocks. Kelsi Thoman recorded a team-high 20 digs on the night, marking the fourth time this year she has notched at least 20 digs in a match.
Robin Miramontes led Long Beach State with 16 kills, while Heather Laudato had a match-high 26 digs.
As a team, Utah State hit just .075 in the match as compared to a .248 hitting percentage for Long Beach State. The 49ers also recorded 10 more kills (51-41), 12 more digs (63-51), 4.5 more team blocks (12.5-8.0), and 12 less hitting errors (18-30) in the match.
Utah State returns to action next weekend when it travels to Cal Poly on Fri., Nov. 5 and to 20th-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Sat., Nov. 6.
