Volleyball Defeats Cal State Fullerton In Four Games

LOGAN, Utah - Zuzana Cernianska recorded 13 kills, 18 digs and 46 assists to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a four-game win against Cal State Fullerton (30-25, 30-25, 27-30, 30-28) here Saturday night. With the victory, USU improves to 9-15 on the season and 5-11 in the Big West Conference. The Titans fall to 13-13 overall and 5-11 in league play with the loss.

Utah State has now won 10 of its last 11 matches against Cal State Fullerton and improved to 6-5 at home on the year with the win.

Cernianska hit a match-high .444 with 13 kills and only one error on 27 swings from the setter position, while adding 18 digs, two blocks and 46 assists. Carolyn Forbush had a match-high 15 kills to go along with 11 digs, while Kindy Peterson and Ingrid Roth both had 12 kills for the Aggies.

Lauren Goins led Cal State Fullerton with 12 kills and 23 digs, while Alyssa Opeka added 10 kills and six blocks in the match.

As a team, Utah State hit .151 as compared to a .130 hitting percentage for Cal State Fullerton. USU had 14 more kills (69-55) in the match, while the Titans had four more team blocks (14-10), four more digs (91-87), and six fewer hitting errors (30-36).

Utah State returns to action next weekend when it travels to Pacific and Cal State Northridge for its final two Big West matches of the season.
