SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost a three-game match to 19th-ranked UC Santa Barbara here Saturday night by final scores of 18-30, 14-30, and 14-30 to fall to 7-15 on the season and 3-11 in the Big West Conference. UCSB improved to 19-3 overall and 13-2 in league play with the win.
Utah State has lost eight straight matches to UC Santa Barbara and is now 4-33 all-time against the Gauchos.
Kindy Peterson led Utah State with eight kills in the match, while Amanda Fahnestock hit a team-high .462 with seven kills to go along with 11 digs.
Janine Sandell led UC Santa Barbara with 11 kills, while Megan Blackshire had 10.
As a team, Utah State hit .060 in the match as compared to a .427 hitting percentage for UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos had 17 more kills (48-31), 10 more team blocks (13-3), and nine more service aces (9-0) in the match, while USU had 17 more hitting errors (24-7).
Utah State returns to action next weekend as it hosts UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton on Thur., Nov. 11 and Sat., Nov. 13.
