SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Utah State's men's and women's tennis teams each lost matches at Cal Poly as the Aggie men fell 5-2 and the women lost 7-0 here Thursday.

The men lost for just the third time in their last nine matches, while the USU women saw their three-match winning streak come to an end. USU's men fell to 7-7 while the women dropped to 4-5. Cal Poly's men improved to 10-5 while the women are now 9-3.

Hungsoon Park and Jason Trask recorded individual wins for the Aggie men. Park won his number one singles match, while Trask was pushed to three sets in winning at number four.

"We gave a great effort and had our chances," said USU head coach Christian Wright. "We executed pretty well overall, but some big points got away from us."

Hannes Schenk lost the number three singles match in three sets as he won the first set before falling 7-6 in a tie-breaker in the second set. He then lost 6-4 in the third set.

On the women's side, the combination of Lindsey Bennion and Carolyn Stephens won the number one singles match, but Cal Poly claimed the other two matches to take the doubles point. Bennion, Richelle Moon and Courtney Anderson had the closest singles matches as each pushed one set of their matches to a tie breaker.

"Lindsey played well," Wright said. "Cal Poly just looked more comfortable and kept balls in play. We are still adjusting to playing at sea level."

The Aggie men will conclude their California trip playing at UC Santa Barbara on Friday, while the women will play at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday before meeting Pacific in San Luis Obispo on Sunday.
