Final Stats

Orem, Utah - Utah State's softball team split the doubleheader with UVSC. The Aggies were defeated 4-2 in the first game but rallied back and defeated UVSC 8-6 the next game.

In the first game Quela Henderson-Leonhardt made her presence known by leading off the game with a double. Sara Fleming followed with a single that allowed fleet-footed Leonhardt to make it safe to home. The Wolverines tied the game up 1-1 in the second but Leonhardt crushed the ball out of the ballpark in the third for a go ahead homerun, giving her two for the season. The Wolverines hit a two-run homerun in the fourth and scored again in the fifth to pull ahead 4-2 and the Aggies were unable to pull even. The Aggies finished with seven hits in the game.

In the second game, Leonhardt increased her hitting streak to six games by leading off the game with single to center field. Fleming followed with a double to allow Leonhardt to make it home and give USU an early 1-0 lead in the first. Going into the third inning tied 1-1, the Aggies exploded for four runs. The gunpowder was ignited by Jessica Garnett's double that allowed both Fleming and Leonhardt to score. Roxanne Ritchie followed with a triple that drove in Garnett and placed her in good position to score. Leslie Higley then hit a single into right field and Ritchie made it home safe. UVSC answered by scoring five runs when they came to bat in the third and pulled ahead 6-5. The Aggies were able to finish out the game strong with one run in the sixth and two in the seventh to pull out their sixth win of the season. The Aggies finished the game with 12 hits.

Five Aggies, Leonhardt, Fleming, Garnett, Ritchie, and Amanda Carver, recorded hits in the first game while seven Aggies, Leonhardt, Fleming, Garnett, Ritchie, Higley, Carver, and Candace Hatch had hits in the second. The second game was the second win of the season for Jessica Garnett, making her 2-3 for the season.
