Jaycee Carroll Named Freshman All-American

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Jaycee Carroll was named a honorable mention freshman All-American by Rivals.com it was announced on Monday. Carroll was also named the Freshman of the Year in the Big West Conference on Monday, along with earning second-team all-league honors, as he helped lead Utah State to a 22-7 regular season record and a second-place finish in the Big West with a 13-5 league record.

Carroll, a 6-2 freshman guard from Evanston, Wyo., is averaging 14.4 points and 4.1 rebounds on the season, while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 47.6 percent from three-point range. Carroll leads the Big West in three-point shooting and ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage and is sixth in scoring. He is also 12th in the country in scoring among freshmen.

Carroll is one of 27 freshman from across the country named an All-American by Rivals.com.

Players named to the first team include Glen Davis, LSU; Jordan Farmar, UCLA; Daniel Gibson, Texas; Darius Washington, Memphis; and Marvin Williams, North Carolina.

Players named to the second team include Aaron Bruce, Baylor; Rudy Gay, Connecticut; Jeff Green, Georgetown; Sean Singletary, Virginia; and D.J. White, Indiana

Players named to the third team include Toney Douglas, Auburn; Malik Hariston, Oregon; Chris Lofton, Tennessee; Juan Palacios, Louisville; and Rajon Rondo, Kentucky.

Players named honorable mention include Jaycee Carroll, Utah State; JamesOn Curry, Oklahoma State; Cliff Hammonds, Clemson; Joseph Jones, Texas A&M; Courtney Lee, Western Kentucky; Joe McCray, Nebraska; Gabe Pruitt, USC; Richard Roby, Colorado; Ron Steele, Alabama; Bryce Taylor, Oregon; Darian Townes, Arkansas; and Martin Zeno, Texas Tech.
