LOGAN, Utah - Redshirt sophomore Beth Hodge (Broken Arrow, Okla.) recorded career-highs with 26 kills and 15 digs to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a four-game win (30-14, 25-30, 30-24, 30-19) against Texas-Pan American on Saturday in the final day of competition at the 2005 Hurricane Invitational hosted by Tulsa University.
Utah State improved to 3-0 on the season with the win, while the Lady Broncs fell to 1-3 on the year with the loss. USU has won its first three matches of the year for only the second time in the last 26 years as the 2003 squad begin its season with five straight wins.
Hodge was the only Utah State player to record double-digits in kills and she also led the team with a blistering .404 hitting percentage. Senior Erin Graybill (Sandy, Utah) added eight kills and a career-high 10 total blocks in the match, while junior Kelsi Peterson (Las Vegas, Nev.) recorded 15 digs and three service aces.
As a team, Utah State hit .258 overall as compared to a .081 hitting percentage for Texas-Pan American. USU also recorded seven more team blocks (14-7) and five more service aces (9-4) in the match.
Utah State will play its fourth and final match of the 2005 Hurricane Invitational at 6 p.m. against the host Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
