LOGAN, Utah - Sophomore Dana Peart extended her goal scoring streak to three matches as she scored Utah State's only goal in a 2-1 loss to UNLV in women's soccer action here Friday. Peart continues to be the only Aggie to score this season, while four different players have dished-out assists.

The loss dropped the Aggies to 0-2-1 on the season and stretched their winless streak to seven matches. UNLV improved to 2-1 with the win.

For the second straight match the Aggies had the advantage in shots to open things up, recording eight shots to UNLV's five. Unfortunately for the Aggies, the Rebels made the most of their shots as they scored at 12:43 and 14:31.

UNLV's first goal came as Erica Frizzell took a pass just outside the eight-yard box and rocketed a shot that USU goalie Kelli Allred saved, but was unable to control. The Rebels' Erica Jensen was near by and put the rebound in the Aggie goal.

Angie Inzana scored what proved to be the game-winner for UNLV as she one timed a square ball from Armani Rice on the left side.

After going into the intermission down 2-0, Utah State was able to put many dangerous runs together in the second 45 minutes. Peart's third goal of the season came as Sierra Smith booted a corner kick from the right side that was eventually cleared back out to Smith on the right corner. Smith immediately made a small ran and lifted a cross that found a charging Peart, who headed the ball past UNLV's Ciera Nero.

Other USU opportunities were haltered by Nero's seven saves and by balls that either sailed high or hit the goal post. Abby Hunt had two chances thwarted by Nero, one coming in the 66th minute and the other in the 88th.

Hunt found room in the center of the field for the first shot, but Nero made a diving save to her left to squelch the threat. Hunt's second chance came on a run that was setup by a combination play from Trisha Cardon and Smith.

Allred was credited with the loss as she worked the first half, giving up both goals and recording one save. Lisa Willardson tended the Aggie net in the second half, tallying one save.

Hunt led the Aggies with five shots as USU out-shot the Rebels, 18-11. Utah State also had the four-to-one advantage on corner kicks.

Utah State now plays its first road match of the year as it travels to Provo to face BYU on Monday at 8 p.m.
