LOGAN, Utah - Dana Peart scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season just under two minutes into the match, but Portland State countered with a goal in the second half as the two teams ended in a 1-1 tie in women's soccer action here Saturday afternoon.

The tie put the Aggies at 2-5-3 on the year, while Portland State went to 3-4-1.

Peart's goal was setup by a long cross from Sierra Smith from deep in the right corner of the field. The ball bounced once and an unmarked Peart found the back of the net at 1:59. The assist was Smith's second on the year and fifth of her career.

Portland State knotted things at one apiece in the 68th minute as a corner kick by Juli Edwards was headed into the Aggie net by Jessica Shadle.

Two of USU's best scoring chances came in the second overtime. The first was in the 108th minute when Chanel Weddle played a ball into Charity Weston just inside the 18-yard box. Weston rocketed a shot, but the ball was snared by a diving Viking goalie. The second opportunity came just over a minute later when Kiersten Nilsson got open on the right side of the 18-yard box and shot a ball that hit the far post and bounced out.

Portland State ended the match with 10 corner kicks to USU's two as the Vikings tallied seven in the second half.

Utah State has just one match next week as it travels to Weber State on Oct. 1. Kick-off is slated for 11 a.m.
