Final Stats
PROVO, Utah - Utah State soccer was once again unable to find the back of the net against BYU, falling to the Cougars, 5-0, Monday night. BYU has now out-scored the Aggies a combined 13-0 in the three matches the teams have played.
The loss drops the Aggies to 0-3-1 on the season and stretches their winless streak to eight matches dating back to last year. The winless streak is USU's longest since a win evaded it for a similar eight matches during the 2002 season.
BYU took a 2-0 lead into intermission as it out-shot USU, 10-1. The Cougars then added three more in the second half to stay a perfect 4-0 on the young season.
Kelli Allred picked-up the loss for USU as she worked the entire match for USU, recording five saves. BYU's Erika Woodbury and Ashley Smith combined for the one-save shutout.
Utah State finished with just four shots and didn't attempt a corner kick. The shots were taken by Rachelle Dixon, Charity Weston, Dana Peart, and Abby Hunt. Weston was the only Aggie to have a shot on goal.
A crowd of 2,703 was on-hand to watch the in-state battle. Utah State now prepares for the Montana Nike Cup in Missoula, Mont. this weekend. The Aggies play Air Force on Friday at 3 p.m. and Montana on Sunday at 2 p.m.
