USU Men's Tennis Gets Shut Out By BYU

Utah State's men's tennis team opened up its 2006 season facing a Brigham Young team ranked 63rd in the country. The Aggies had trouble against the Cougars, losing 7-0 here Saturday afternoon.

USU failed to post a singles or a doubles win on the day. Dantley Young put up the best fight, but the junior from West Jordan, Utah fell 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles. Young teamed with Johannes Zelle in doubles play, but the pair lost 8-4 in the number one doubles match.

The Aggies will continue their season playing at Idaho State on Thursday, Jan. 19.

#6 - Jose Lechuga (BYU) def. Jonas Tyden, 6-4, 6-1

Doubles:

#1 - Ludlow/ Lechuga (BYU) def. Zelle/Young, 8-4

#2 - Hand/ Sanchez (BYU) def. Pinho/Netto, 8-2

#3 - Kaufhold/ Kokurin (BYU) def. Marchant/Tyden, 8-2
