Volleyball Drops Four-Game Match To Idaho

LOGAN, Utah - Erin Curtis recorded 13 kills and hit .333 (13-4-27) in the match to lead Idaho to a four-game win (29-31, 30-19, 30-23, 30-19) against Utah State here Thursday night. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak for the Vandals in Logan.

With the victory, Idaho improves to 6-12 overall and 5-1 in the Western Athletic Conference, while Utah State falls to 10-13 on the season and 3-6 in league play with the loss, and has now lost a season-high five straight matches.

Hailey Jeppson led Utah State with 13 kills, while Amanda Nielson added 12 kills and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.

After leading for much of the opening game, Utah State rallied from a 29-27 deficit with four unanswered points to notch the two-point win. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight for the Aggies as Idaho dominated the final three games as it jumped out to 18-8 lead in game two, a 7-2 lead in game three, and a 10-3 lead in game four to notch the four-game win.

For the match, Idaho hit .219 (57-24-151) as compared to a .084 (49-36-155) hitting percentage for Utah State. The Vandals also recorded nine more service aces (12-3), 4.5 more team blocks (13.5-9.0), and one more dig (59-58) in the match.

Utah State will return to action on Sat., Oct. 21 when it hosts Boise State at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
