LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team continues Western Athletic Conference play on Thurs., Oct. 26 at Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. (MT).
Utah State is 11-13 on the season and in sixth-place in the WAC with a 4-6 league record after losing to Idaho (3-1) and defeating Boise State (3-1) at home last weekend. The Aggies are led by junior opposite side hitter Amanda Nielson who is averaging 5.13 points, 4.15 kills, 2.06 digs, 1.10 blocks, and 0.38 service aces per game, while freshman outside hitter Hailey Jeppson is averaging 3.49 points, 3.01 kills, 2.77 digs, and 0.59 blocks per game. As a team, Utah State is hitting .159 on the year as compared to a .182 hitting percentage for its opponents.
Louisiana Tech is 6-19 on the season and in last-place in the WAC with an 0-8 league record following a three-game loss at San Jose State and a five-game loss at Fresno State last weekend. The Lady Techsters are led by junior middle blocker Shannon Phillips who is hitting .179 and averaging 3.97 kills, 3.53 digs, and 0.48 blocks per game. As a team, Louisiana Tech is hitting .178 on the season as compared to a .195 hitting percentage for its opponents.
Utah State is 3-0 all-time against Louisiana Tech, which includes a three-game win in Logan earlier this year. The only time USU has played at Louisiana Tech was on Nov. 14, 2005, winning in four games. Following its match against Louisiana Tech, USU will travel to 23rd-ranked New Mexico State for a match on Sat., Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. (MT).
