BOISE, Idaho - Utah State's women's volleyball team lost a four-game match (15-30, 29-31, 31-29, 18-30) at Boise State Thursday night, snapping the Aggies eight-mach winning streak against the Broncos.
Boise State improves to 12-16 overall and 5-10 in the Western Athletic Conference with the win, while Utah State falls to 13-17 on the year and 6-9 in league play with the loss.
Amanda Nielson posted her ninth double-double of the year as she led Utah State with 15 kills and 18 digs, while Kelsi Peterson added 31 digs.
Cameron Flunder led Boise State with a match-high 19 kills, while Jackie Stroud notched a match-high 35 digs.
Utah State struggled early in the match as it hit a negative .095 (7-11-42) in the opening game, while Boise State hit .308 (17-5-39) to coast to the 15-point win. USU played much better in game two as it hit .189 (18-8-53), but the Broncos posted the two-point win as it hit .186 (19-8-59).
Utah State rallied for a two-point win in the third game as it held Boise State to a .034 (16-14-59) hitting percentage, while USU hit .089 (15-10-56). In the fourth and final game, the Broncos hit .245 (19-7-49), and held the Aggies to a .098 (9-5-41) hitting percentage to notch the win.
Overall, Utah State hit .078 (49-34-192) in the match as compared to a .180 hitting percentage (71-34-206) for Boise State. The Broncos also recorded 12 more digs (94-82) and six more service aces (7-1) in the match, while USU won the battle at the net with seven more team blocks (16-9).
Next up for Utah State will be its regular season finale at Idaho on Sat., Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. (MT).
