Utah States Mens Tennis Sweeps Weber State

Utah State's men's tennis defeated Weber State Wednesday afternoon in Logan 7-0. The win gives the Aggies a 4-4 record for the spring season.

In singles action Utah State gave up zero points winning all six matches. Johannes Zelle took the No. 1 spot defeating Sascha Kiehne 6-2 then retired. Senior Joao Pinho took the No. 2 spot defeating Fabio Mancarella 6-3, 6-3. Junior JJ Netto got his first win of the spring season at the No. 3 spot defeating Zach Rideout 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles action the Aggies won all three matches. At the No. 1 spot Zelle and Pinho defeated Fabio Manacrella and Sascha Kiehne 8-4. The Aggies struggled a little at the No. 2 and 3 spots but pulled out with a victory. At the No. 2 spot Dantley Young and Jonas Tyden defeated Quinn Allred and Mathis Saberon 8-6, and at No. 3 Bryan Marchant and Michael Banks defeated Zach Rideout and Chris Williams 8-7.

"It was nice to play an instate team," said head coach Christian Wright. "It was a good match for our team and it was nice to finally have a home match after being on the road so long." The Aggies will be in action again on Friday, February 10 against Nevada. The match will take place 1 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
