Final Stats

RENO, Nev. - Utah State's Amy Schaible hit her first home run of the season, but it was not enough as Nevada completed the three-game sweep over the Aggies with a 5-2 win here on Saturday.

Utah State dropped to 5-25 overall with the loss and remained winless in the WAC with an 0-5 record. The Wolfpack improved to 19-23 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win.

Nevada wasted no time in taking the lead as the Wolfpack scored a run in the bottom of the first inning on a Candice Rainwater sacrifice fly. Nevada would add another run in the second as Lindsey Hall hit a solo home run, giving the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead.

The Aggies would then help Nevada double its lead as the Wolfpack added two runs in the third inning on just one hit as they were aided by two Utah State errors.

Aubrie Stroman would then put the Aggies on the board for the first time in the three-game series as she drove in Sara Fleming on a ground out to the short stop in the fourth inning. Utah State would threaten to cut the Wolfpack lead in the same inning as it had runners on second and third with just one out. However, Shawn Bjarnson and Jamie Fife were left in scoring position as Nevada's Jordan McPhearson retired the next two Aggies to end the threat.

Schaible cut the lead to 5-2 in the fifth as she led-off the inning with a solo shot, but McPhearson would finish the Aggies off as she set down the final nine Utah State batters in order.

McPhearson picked up her second win of the series and improved her record to 12-13 overall with the win. Lindsey Benson dropped to 0-5 on the season with the loss as she pitched four innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits.

The Aggies return to action as they continue their 10 game road swing next week when they head to Salt Lake City, Utah to take on the Utes in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
