Aggie Spikers Defeat St. Francis (NY) In Three Games

TULSA, Okla. - Monarisa Ale recorded a match-high 10 kills to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a three-game win (30-13, 30-19, 30-21) against St. Francis (NY) in the third round of the Oral Roberts Classic here Saturday afternoon. USU improves to 7-6 on the season with the win, while St. Francis (NY) falls to 0-8 on the year with the loss.

Utah State dominated the Terriers in the first game as it hit .256 (17-7-39) and held St. Francis (NY) to a negative .207 (3-9-29) hitting percentage to notch the 17-point win. USU recorded 14 kills in the second game and hit .216, while St. Francis recorded 10 kills and hit .118 as the Aggies won the second game by 11 points. In the third and final game, Utah State hit .176 (15-9-34) and held SFC to a negative .125 (5-8-24) hitting percentage to notch a nine-point win and sweep the match.

Danielle Taylor added eight kills and four digs for Utah State, while Tiffany Morrill recorded her first stats of the season with a team-high four blocks to go along with two kills.

Utah State finished the match by hitting .218 and held St. Francis (NY) to a negative .057 hitting percentage. USU also recorded 28 more kills (46-18), 24 more assists (42-18), eight more service aces (9-1), six more team blocks (8-2), and two more digs (40-38) in the contest, while committing one fewer hitting errors (22-23).

Utah State will conclude play in the 2006 Oral Roberts Classic at 6 p.m Saturday night against the host Golden Eagles.
