MOSCOW, Idaho - Freshman forward Lauren Hansen netted two goals in the opening minutes of the second half to help give the Aggies a 4-0 shutout against Idaho in Moscow, Friday evening. USU halted their two-match losing streak and improved to 5-8 overall and 1-0 in the WAC, while Idaho falls to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

"We did so well as a team," said Utah State head coach Heather Cairns. "Our defense stayed organized and we didn't give them a lot of good looks at goals. Our attack came through for us today."

Utah State got on board early when junior forward Candice Clark passed the ball off a corner kick to junior midfielder Lacey Christenson from the 18 yard line, while Christenson connected with junior defender Alyssa Lowry who netted the ball in the back of then net in the fourth minute of action. The score stayed at 1-0 through the end of the first half.

Hansen scored her first goal in the 51st minute as Clark played a ball through to Hansen who then went one on one with an Idaho defender. Less then two minutes later, Idaho's goalkeeper went to clear the ball and hit their own defender in the face and bounced in front of Hansen who tapped the ball in the net to score her second goal in the 52nd minute.

Aggie sophomore defender Sydne Porter played a long ball into sophomore forward Erin Salmon for the Aggies' fourth goal in the match at 78:28. Salmon's goal was the first for her this season and her fourth career goal.

"It was a great team effort and it's really great to see it all come together," Cairns said. "We were playing on both sides of the ball."

Aggie junior goalkeeper Ali Griffin made three saves, while Idaho's Michelle Jordan tallied five.

USU had a 17-14 shot advantage, including 9-3 on goal.

Utah State is now 8-1-0 all-time against the Vandals and are 6-6 in conference-openers.

The Aggies continue action on Sunday as they host the Boise State Broncos at Noon at the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field.
